| Share Due to an upcoming deadline for approval of industrial development revenue bonds by the state, the Baker County Development Commission will convene for an emergency meeting the morning of Tuesday, April 3 to consider signing off on up to $22 million in bonds.
The money will fund development of a medical waste incinerator facility planned for a 25-acre site owned by the commission north of the Walmart Distribution Center. The commission may sell the tract to the company at a later date.
The emergency meeting starts at 8:15 am at the Chamber of Commerce, 20 E. Macclenny Ave., and the public is welcome to attend.
The commission will consider a resolution authorizing issuance of up to $22 million in bonds to finance the project being planned by Integrated Waste Management Systems of Pennsylvania.
The development commission's director, Darryl Register, said that neither the commission, nor the county will be liable for repayment of the bonds. Rather, he said, the commission's approval would reduce company's interest rate for borrowing the money and grant tax breaks to lenders.
The Baker County Commission is set to consider a development agreement with the company in a public hearing at 6 pm at 55 N. 3rd St. the same day, April 3.
The development commission will consider the agreement on April 12 at 6:30 pm at the Chamber of Commerce. |
