| Share The St. Mary's River Management Committee will hold their annual river clean-up March 17. From the committee's flyer:
WHAT? The 2012 St. Marys River Celebration is the annual spring cleaning of the St. Marys River and its tributaries. It is a one-day volunteer cleanup of the St. Marys River. Throughout the four-hour event, volunteers from four counties will scour the shorelines of the rivers, lakes and streams of the St. Marys River system, removing thousands of pounds of trash from the waterway. WHEN? Saturday, March 17, from 8:00a.m. until 12:00p.m. Following the morning cleanup, there will be a celebration event for volunteers at Trader’s Hill Recreational Area in Charlton County, GA. Tickets will be distributed to cleanup volunteers and can be redeemed for a tee-shirt at the celebration event. WHERE? The cleanup will take place along the shorelines of the St. Marys River (and its tributaries) in Nassau and Baker counties in Florida and Camden and Charlton counties in Georgia. The celebration event, following the cleanup, will take place at Trader’s Hill Recreational Area in Charlton County, GA. The celebration event will begin at noon. WHO? Anyone who wishes to volunteer can participate in the cleanup. Volunteers under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Bring a rake, dip net or trash stick, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, work gloves, and protective footwear. We will supply trash bags. |
