Sylvester Ernest Sellers, 87, of Whitehouse died on March 12, 2013 at his residence with family by his side. He was born in Jacksonville on June 29, 1925 to the late Mack Sellers and Ida Lou Thompson Sellers. Sylvester has been a resident of Whitehouse for the past 11 years after moving from High Springs, FL. He was a longtime member of Otis Road Church of God where he played lead guitar.
Mr. Sellers was a successful, accomplished entrepreneur who founded Seller’s Roofing where he fulfilled a passion for construction and roofing. He enjoyed playing the guitar, singing gospel music and fishing. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 28 years, Shirley Sellers; sisters Lessie Thomas, Myrtle Johnson and Estelle Williams; nephews Clyde Johnson and Monroe Bryant; niece Betty Kinnard.
He is survived by loving niece Joan F. Bryant of Jacksonville; nephews Edgar (Bunnie) Williams Jr. and Marvin (Nell) Williams, both of Jacksonville and Forest Thomas of Baldwin; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 15 at 11 am at his church with pastors John Spratlin and Steven Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Sellers Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 14 from 6-8 pm at V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services in Macclenny.
