The Lady Wildcat softball team is in the midst of a four-game win streak and finished the week with a 20-4 win over Fernandina Beach.
Coach Franklin Griffis’ Cats suffered an early season shutout at First Coast, but it only served as a wake up call as they rattled off the next four wins, including three on the road.
Last week opened with a 4-2 victory at Paxon on February 12. The Lady Cats jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Jennifer Hodges scored. Paxon tied the game in the third but the Cats got the lead right back when Brooke Roberts scored in the top of the fourth.
BCHS extended its lead with insurance runs for Hodges and Brandy Callaway in the seventh. Paxon got a run in its half of the seventh. Mackenzie Wingard got the win.
The girls traveled to Middleburg and took a 5-3 Valentine’s Day victory from the Broncos. The game was back and forth through the first two innings with both teams scoring runs. BCHS got a solo home run from Kylie Holton in the first and Corley Sweat scored in the second.
From then on it was all Lady Wildcats as Wingard, Hodges, and Delicia Washington scored. Wingard got the win.
The Cats got their biggest offensive showing of the season on February 15 at Fernandina with a 20-4 drubbing of the Lady Pirates. Washington scored four times and Callaway, Casey Blue and Ashton Alford touched home three times. Sweat scored twice and Callie Paine, Holton, Branda Jarvis, Peyton Parker and Genie Davis all scored. Corley Sweat got the win for the Lady Cats.
The girls host West Nassau on Friday, February 22 at 6 pm.
