Billy Charles Folsom Sr. of Sanderson died Sunday, Sept. 2 at his residence following a long illness. He was a native of Austell, Georgia and lived in Heflin, Alabama before moving to Sanderson six years age. He was employed as a truck driver for many years. He was a Baptist and a professional Santa Claus who loved remote control airplanes, hunting and fishing.Mr. Folsom was preceded in death by parents Lawrence Marion Folsom and Bertha Beatrice Paine Folsom. He is survived by his wife Dawn “Mary” Folsom of Sanderson; daughters Tammy E. Folsom of Macclenny and Dawn C. Lockhart of Bowden, Ga.; sons Billy C. Folsom Jr., Brian L. Folsom and Timothy L. Folsom, all of Sanderson; brother Warner L. Folsom of Spring, Texas; sisters Joyce E. Spoonemore of Mableton, Ga., Mary Jane Dixon of Warrenville, S.C. and Judy Folsom Sauls of Beech Island, S.C.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The memorial service for Mr. Folsom will be conducted at 7 pm on Friday, Sept. 7, in the chapel of Guerry Funeral Home in Macclenny with Rev. Troy Alexander, pastor of Vineyard of Love Ministries in Olustee, officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
