|Lady Cats softball continues hot streak|

The Lady Wildcat softball team remained hot this week as the girls out scored opponents 32-3 on their way to a three-game sweep. Over the past six games, they have out scored opponents by an amazing 75-5 margin.
During the last week the Lady Cats shut out Bishop Kenny and Trinity Christian and beat West Nassau by seven runs. They face Paxon and Yulee March 8 and 9 at home.
The bats stayed red hot against Bishop Kenny during the 10-0 win at home on February 28. The girls broke open a scoreless game with seven runs in the third inning.
Tina Hauge, Shelby Gatto, Taylor Crummey, Clara Harvey, Brooke Roberts, Megan Farmer and Tayler McCann all scored. Gatto doubled in rally.
Haley Crews added an insurance run in the fifth and Kylie Holton and Crummey put up two more runs in the sixth to finish the scoring.
Haley Crews was dominating on the mound, throwing a complete game and only allowing only a pair of hits while striking out 10 Crusaders.
McCann was 4 for 4, Gatto 3 for 3 and Farmer 3 for 4.
• Fernandina Beach gave the Cats a start on March 1 as they opened up a one-run lead in the second inning before BCHS came back and defeated them 10-3 at home.
It didn’t take the Lady Cats long to respond. They got 3 runs in the third inning from Holton Crummey and Harvey.
They put the game away in the fourth inning with a 7-run rally that saw Hauge, Gatto, Holton, Crummey, Roberts, Genie Taylor and McCann score. Gatto and MacKenzie Wingard did the honors on the mound. Hauge went 2-3 at the plate.
• BCHS wrapped up its week by defeating Trinity Christian 12-0 on March 2 in Jacksonville.
Crews threw a one-hitter and struck out 8 as she dominated the Conquerors from the mound.
The Cats got on top early and in spectacular fashion as Gatto blasted a two-run homer that brought in Tina Hauge to give the Cats a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
The Cats then went on a rampage in the second inning, scoring 7 runs highlighted by Taylor Crummey’s 3-run blast. Crummey, McCann, Crews, Hauge, Gatto, Holton and Harvey all scored.
The scoring continued with a 3-run fifth where Crews, Harvey and Gatto crossed home plate. Gatto hit a double in the rally.
Gatto was 3 for 4 with a homer and 4 RBIs. Crummey had 3 RBIs.
The Lady Cats are 3-0 in the district with another big district game this week. They host Paxon on Thursday in a rematch of a game they won 10-0 on February 23.
