For more than three-quarters of a century, The Press has published the stories of Baker County with insight, accuracy and integrity, while providing our readers with the knowledge they need to better understand the issues that affect their jobs, homes and lives.
Baker County Press Macclenny The Press has sustained a level of excellence that few papers in the state of Florida can equal. We’ve won dozens of awards representing just about every aspect of newspaper publishing – writing, reporting, editing, design, photography, graphics, advertising, community service and more.
We have been recognized by state and national newspaper associations, as well as other organizations that support the ideals of journalism, including the University of Florida, which honored us with its Claudia Ross Memorial Award for investigative journalism, and the First Amendment Foundation, which chose The Press as the first newspaper to be named Friend of the First Amendment, joining previous winners such as Gov. Charlie Crist, former Lt. Gov. Toni Jennings, and Gerald Kogan, former chief justice of the Florida Supreme Court. Over the years, our fellow journalists at the National Newspaper Association, the Florida Press Association, the Florida Press Club and the National Federation of Press Women have consistently judged us to be among the best newspapers of our size. These are some of the categories in which we’ve won awards from those organizations:
