Share![]() Chelsey Ruise (center) during Forrest High game. The Lady Wildcat volleyball team kicked off its season last weekend when it took part in the Volleyball Classic at Paxon on August 27. Coach Heather Sulkowski’s Lady Cats split in two games, losing to the hosts but defeating Lee. They came back with a pair of wins this past week over Trinity and Forrest. The Wildcats lost to the Golden Eagles of Paxon in a hard-fought five-game match. Paxon won the first game 21-25 but the Cats came back with a pair of wins. They beat Paxon 25-22 in the second game and cruised to a 25-8 win in the third. To their credit, the Eagles regrouped, beating BCHS 21-25 and 8-15. Kayla Holland led the Cats with 12 kills, 5 aces and 9 digs. Brooke Robertson had 8 kills and 5 aces. Logan Raulerson had 23 assists and 6 digs. The Cats were successful in their second match, defeating Lee in three games, 25-7, 25-14 and 25-14. They excelled in the serving game with 26 aces as a team. BCHS defeated Trinity on the road on Tuesday, August 30, 3-1. They won the first two games 25-23, 27-25 but lost the third 21-25 before coming back to take the match with a 25-15 win. Kayla Holland led the way in the tight match with her first double-double of 10 kills and 11 digs. Logan Raulerson put up 19 assists and Chelsey Ruise had 9 kills and 4 blocks. Cati Fraze led the defense with 16 digs.
The varsity cruised to a 3-0 win of Forrest on Thursday, September 4 at home with a 25-7, 25-13, 25-11 score line. Stephanie Collett, Holland and Ruise led the offense with five kills apiece. Caitlin Smith added a match high nine aces on the night. That brought them to 3-1 so far in the young season. JV split with Trinity, winning the first match 25-15, 25-13 but losing the second 18-25, 13-25. They defeated Forrest 25-9, 25-12. The Lady Cats will host Terry Parker at on September 13 with games at 5:30 and 6:30 pm. |
