Undercover drug buys result in three arrests Print E-mail

A man and woman were arrested for selling drugs at their residence off Bob Kirkland Road after investigators served a warrant there September 2.

Undercover buys during the last two weeks from 12908 Bobby Ray Lane were used to build the case against Amanda Kennedy, 21, and Victor Jackson, 25, said the sheriff’s chief investigator Chuck Brannan.

Ms. Kennedy faces two counts of sale and possession of marijuana while Mr. Jackson was charged with two counts of sale and possession of crack cocaine and a single count of sale and possession of marijuana.

Officers seized $690 in cash and less than 20 ounces of marijuana from the scene.

The same day a 66-year-old Glen St. Mary woman was arrested on similar charges, but for sale and possession of a controlled substances.

Inv. Brannan said Jane Kemp of 7625 Odis Yarborough Rd. was netted in the recent undercover buys as well.

In other recent arrests by investigators:

• Jade Matteson, 29, of Bryce­­ville was charged with a single count of grand theft August 29 for allegedly stealing a four-wheeler from Henry and Paula Crews of Cuyler Road.

A warrant for grand theft has also been issued for Gregory Sheffield, 22, of St. George, GA in the case.

Investigators received a description of a vehicle at the scene, which belonged to Mr. Matteson’s girlfriend, Inv. Brannan said.

The four-wheeler has not been recovered.

• A couple from Hendersonville, TN faces charges here related to the theft of about $6000 worth of stolen jewelry and blank checks.

Tabitha and Thomas Clendening, ages 32 and 28 respectively, were staying at the home of Monica Berardo of Sanderson, but allegedly left with the stolen property on June 29.

Investigators recently secured warrants for their arrest in Gallatin, TN on grand theft charges.

Inv. Brannan said the suspects are resisting extradition and therefore local authorities must obtain authorization from the Tennessee governor’s office before returning them here.
