The Baker Bullets had their final home meet of the season July 16 against the Dye-Clay Dolphins from Orange Park. The visiting team performed well and easily stroked to a 488-point victory, 1593 to 1105.

Coach Andy Johnston beamed at the improvement that his swimmers demonstrated in the contest.

“Several Bullets had personal best times,” said Johnston. “It was a record fast meet that was over in just over an hour as the volunteers hurried to beat the bad weather.”

First place finishers in individual races were Loriann Bliss, Braeden Knight, Abby Rice, Alaina Crawford, Ethan Knight, Carson Shedd, Hannah Peterson, Mark Ray, Taiven Rhoden, Emily Ossman, Kyler Wilkerson, Elizabeth Reagan, Karlee Nelson, Grayson Wagstaff, McKenzie Hickman, Landon Hickman and Josh Ossman.

Since it was the final home meet of the season, Johnston and Coach Trevor Nelson encouraged a few parents enter into relays so all the kids could swim a relay. Jennifer Knight (a former Baker Bullet) swam in a girls relay, Nelson in the breaststroke and Johnston the butterfly leg of the relay.

“Unfortunately we old timers couldn’t keep up with the kids and Coach Trevor and I finished dead last!” said Johnston.
